Fashion Show Photoshoot: Paige

 photo 4d1b73f6-d557-4438-b55d-bfb0ca57c271_zps842d33b7.jpg
Paige's natural hair complimented her runway look perfectly. Paige's runway look was very feminine, natural and golden. For Paige's look we placed in the hands of this beautiful queen a golden sword. This runway look was what we like to call "Warrior Bride" , a bride who is willing to put up a fight for her love.

Like Paige's sword her makeup was also golden. Gold leaves, golden sword, golden wires, golden makeup, everything was so golden! We decided to add green swirls around her eyes to add more to her nature look. The natural coils of Paige's hair really enhanced her look and took the whole natural feel to another level.

It is so wonderful seeing a young Black woman rock her natural tresses on the runway. Paige's hair was so lovely, soft and coily and looked amazing in the bright lights. Her walk was very strong and went with her warrior bride look amazingly. All photos taken & edited by Fennella Miller

Fall is Near...

So most of us are still enjoying the the summer heat, whether it is at our local pool or the Florida beaches. One thing for certain is that fall will be here before we know it, and one accessory that is always fit for the fall are hats. Check out a few of our favorite headpieces for the fall:

Cloche

Floppy Brim

Straw

Fall will be here soon, and any one of these hats are a great way to top off any look. Cloches are for the bold and elegant, Fedoras are aimed toward the simple and chic, Floppy- Brim are for the casual and classy, and straw hats are for the versatile. Whatever hat fits you, make it yours!

Day & Night, Night & Day

As women, we have all probably faced those days where we didn’t feel like changing into two different outfits in one day lol. That is understandable as many of us have busy lives or may not necessarily have an abundance of outfits to choose from. ‘Fashion Recycling’ becomes handy at this point!

One timeless piece that can always be switched up is a maxi dress! In the first picture, the casual look is simple enough with the pairing of an everyday summer flat. The night time outfits bring in sleek sophistication through the addition of added pieces such as a blazer, chandelier earrings, pumps, jewelry and clutches. Thus, the key to ‘fashion recycling’ is to strategically change or add a few key elements.

During the day, we usually have our hair down or slightly styled; a simple way to switch to the night is to play with various updos. In terms of makeup; during the day, we would probably go for a more natural look, but during the night, boldness can be emphasized through the addition of bold eye makeup or bright lipstick! So go ahead and see what you can reuse in your wardrobe this week! :D

Ayanna's makeup was amongst one of the most unique and creative for the fashion show. Ayanna rocked an 80s runway look with wild hair, leather jacket and even a bomb bow in her hair to top it all off. This look was young, funky and fresh and not to mention all white like the other looks in the fashion show.

The photos above are fun and bright while the photos below are more dark and rustic. The futuristic runway music definitely meshed well with Ayanna's runway look. It is so beautiful when fashion and music combine together and go together to create something authentic.

This fashion show was most definitely not your ordinary show. Everything from the outfits to the music turned heads. The professional lighting gave the show a very professional feel to it. Everything about this show was spectacular.

Vintage Finds

Old is the New New

One of my favorite elements to fashion is that there are never any limits. You can travel the world, travel through time, and search your very neighborhood for style inspiration. Through all of the fads and popular wear, I believe however the best way to find your creative mode is through vintage finds. I personally love to go thrifting, search the closet/jewelry box of my mother and sometimes Grandmother if I really want to get fancy. I also find that flea markets and antique shops are a hit when it comes to picking up unique pieces.

Here are a few vintage pieces that may inspire you to add some flare to your wardrobe:

So its summer time, and everyone is sporting all different styles of shades. But I must say, the 50s Cateye sunglass phenomana has rebirth itself, and I love it. Ladies cat eye shades are definitely a must have for the summer. They add chic to any ensemble, and if you are graced enough to come upon these lovely vintage frames, I'd definitely say you have found a vintage piece that may never leave your wardrobe.
Heart lockets are a great vintage accessory. This piece has an old bronze tainted style that bring an antiqued touch. Lockets usually have significance behind them. Maybe it once belonged to a Great- Grandmother or someone special in your life, but they can also work as simple statement accessories. Whatever the case I am loving this vintage find.
Wrist watches will never die as a trend, but what happens when it becomes a treasure? This gorgeous leather banned wrist watch is a great everyday-wear-accesory. The yellow face, roman numeral numbers, elegantly shaped hands, and wooden frame scream vintage. Whats great about this accessory is that it has a modern touch with the triple wrapped leather sequined banned. I would definitely count this as a successful vintage find.

Western cultures love to collect memories and keepsakes by the piece, and charm bracelets are the best way to do so. They are a staple that has yet to vanish. Now imagine finding this beautiful bracelet at a thrift store or flea market; my smile would be from ear to ear. I admire the bronze and warm hues and the embellishment of each piece. This bracelet is definitely a winner for the vintage scavenger.

Chanel is a fashion brand that women have cherished for decades. Now although the brand is known for being a bit pricey, that is where vintage shopping comes in handy. These gold quilted Chanel earrings are beautiful and were crafted as a vintage style accessory, however I have heard countless stories of women finding designer branded fashions at thrift store and vintage boutiques. Keep an eye out for pieces such as this one when you are on a vintage excursion, you never know what you may stumble upon.

Whether you want to embrace a vintage style or choose to weave it in and out of your wardrobe, it never hurts to add a little vintage flare to your closet. After all old is the new new.

Make Me Up!

Makeup is one of the niftiest ways a woman can enhance her natural beauty and there are several looks that can be incorporated into your daily life that have stood the test of time in the trend department. With there being different seasons to constantly gear up for every year, it’s a wise idea to stock up on a few classic items that will never let you down. The first essential is the nude lipstick! Whether you’re heading to work or preparing for an evening social, this is the one staple that will always add a sparkle to an already beaming smile. Next in line are the smoky eye, the bold lip color and the all trusty red lippie! Moreover, a simple cat eye, dab of mascara and lip gloss and neutral palette can subtly lift a tired look.
Finally, makeup would prove detrimental if the skin underneath did not receive adequate care as well. Thus, I believe every woman should always have a consistent facial regimen consisting of a cleanser, exfoliator, toner and serum, sealed off with a moisturizer that is imbued with a sunscreen and SPF. So go ahead and invest into some of these classics! :D
