I am sure every certified fashionista has seen the beautiful style of color blocking. Although it looks great and to some it looks very easy to do, due to the fact that your not matching, color blocking can be a challenge for some. On this post we will lay out some tips for color blocking that will help you become a color blocking pro. After this you will have no excuse not to color block. So be BOLD and just do it!





Some tips for color blocking

1. Everything matters when color blocking even your nail polish, make up and accessories are considered apart of your outfit and the color scheme of your color blocking. Even your hair can be apart of your color blocking outfit if it is a bold color or a modern cut or look.

2. Wear the right shoes that either are a pair of heels that color block or a solid color colored heel. Restrain from plain colored heels like blacks and browns unless they accent your outfit.

3. Choose a variety of colors and try your best not to use the same colors twice.

4. Keep it simple do not use too complicated clothing like ruffles and rips etc but keeping it simple helps add to the color blocking aesthetic.

5. Think modern as color blocking works best with modern styles that are clean cut.

Hair Food

Here are some things that will do wonders to your hair and you can probably find them in your refrigerator.

Mayonnaise can be used as a deep conditioning treatment for the hair helping to repair damage and split ends. You can mix mayo, olive oil, eggs and shea butter for a deep conditioning treatment for hair repair.

Olive Oil adds shine to the hair and can be used as a healthy alternative to the infamous petroleum jelly.

Coconut Oil softens your hair and adds moisture to your hair along with, not to mention, a nice smell to your locks.

Avocado helps to moisturize your hair as well as add protein and Vitamin E. The protein strengthens your hair and the natural oils of the avocado add shine and luster to your hair.

Cayenne Pepper can be used along with aloe vera gel, olive oil or water to stimulate hair growth especially around the temple. We recommend that you use a tooth brush to scrub and massage this in, in order to open up your pores thus stimulating hair growth. Make sure to rinse with lukewarm water and light shampoo afterwards.

Yogurt can be used to add protein to your hair and helps to repair hair damage.

Eggs are a great source of protein for your hair. Eggs also add a shine to your hair.

Water may seem like the odd one out on the list but this is the most important hair food to have. Not only is water good in your body but it is also amazing on your hair. Your body drinks water but so does your hair. It has been proven that drinking plenty water helps to stimulate hair growth. You can also mix water with other natural oils like olive and coconut oil and spray it on your hair to keep your hair soft, glowing and moisturized throughout the day.

Spring is here...in white

Spring just started and now we can pull out those beautiful, light and airy spring colors/fabrics.  Aren't you happy?

We here at WIWS are overflowing with joy about all the colors we get to bring out again...including spring shoes, necklaces, earrings, cosmetics and more.

White is one of those colors we haven't been able to wear as much for a while and miss.

Here's one of our faves...

The white or cream Aline skirt.  Match with a pair of cute kicks like the model above and a tan or pastel colored blouse like the one below.

You can also do this with a nude or colored shoe.  Light pink or peach would look stunning with this skirt as well.

Still tryin to stay warm but want to wear white?  Even though some areas of the nation are warming up, some of us arestill  seeing snowy days!  Here's a cute way to enjoy the spring ready to brave the cold frontier.  

Don't be afraid to match different shades of cream or textures to create a smooth and mixed look.

Pumps are a must have in every fashionistas wardrobe. You can wear them for business, going out or even pair them with a simple outfit to dress up your look. Here are a couple of questions we suggest that you ask yourself when looking for the perfect pair of pumps.

Questions to ask when looking for the perfect pair of pumps

1. What kind of style am I looking for?
When looking for a pair of pumps it is best to get a pair of pumps that fits your style. This way you can wear the pumps with much of your wardrobe.
2. Quality or Quantity?
Is the price within your price range or are you willing to splurge for a definitely long lasting shoe? A good thing to think about when spending on a good pair of pumps is how much you will wear the shoe.
3. Are these comfy?
Ladies please do not forget comfort when buying a pair of shoes. It will make you and your feet happy!
4. Unique pumps or simple pumps?
Sparkles, red bottoms, African print, spiked, animal print there are so many different, what I like to call, flavors of pumps to chose from. You can also choose a classic black or nude pump that can pretty much go with anything.

5. Open toe or closed toe?
Would you rather your toes be out or hidden? Sometimes you may want to show off your nice pedicure and other times you may want to hide your feet because they are in need of a pedicure. For business and job related endeavors closed toe is always the way to go.
6. What is the perfect height?
Pumps come in a variety of heights from short to platform pumps. Think about what heel height is appropriate especially for business or job related endeavors.
7. Should I test them out?
YES indeed you should. Practice strutting your stuff at the store prior to wearing them outside. Not only is the look of your pump important but being able to walk in them is just as important as the look.

Here are some tips for eyebrows:

1. Make sure your eyebrows are done or tweezed prior to arching and filling them.

2. You can find cheaper concealers, brushes etc you do not have to buy the most expensive product to achieve beautiful looking eyebrows.

3. Adding lashes and eyeshadow can enhance your eyes even more.

4. Do what works for you. Your eyebrow arch and face shape may be different from someone elses so do not copy someone else in the pattern of your eyebrow arch but follow the shape of your own arch.

One of the prints we love here at WIWS are African prints and fabrics. African prints and fabrics help to add some culture and color to your look. Contrasting African print on African print makes every woman no matter what look extremely beautiful. You do not have to worry about matching or color coordinating (however you can) because the contrasting of prints adds an even more funky aesthetic to your look. If you want to add even more culture add a dramatic head wrap to your look and wrap it high and large. Finding the undertones in your print and adding them as your makeup accent will also enhance your look even more.




African print can be worn casually or even to upscale events like weddings. Nigerians are known for dressing extravagantly at their weddings. At many weddings a traditional print is selected and all the guests wear the same print but in different styles. This adds unity which is an essential value in African culture while also allowing guests to express themselves through their own dress style.



Please add some African print to your look! Even if it is just a head wrap or a clutch, it will bring out your look and you will not regret it :)

Matte nails are a recent trend that everyone is trying. Usually when getting your nails done you desire a glossy look well matte nails are an unglossy finish, yes the very opposite of what ever nail polish lovers usually ask for. The unglossed matte look comes out looking like a very clean and soft look.



There are many ways to dress up your matte nails. By adding regular glossy nail polish as a design to your nails a nice contrast is created. You can also add metallic nails to glisten up your matte.
