Spring is here...in white

Spring just started and now we can pull out those beautiful, light and airy spring colors/fabrics.  Aren't you happy?

We here at WIWS are overflowing with joy about all the colors we get to bring out again...including spring shoes, necklaces, earrings, cosmetics and more.

White is one of those colors we haven't been able to wear as much for a while and miss.

Here's one of our faves...

The white or cream Aline skirt.  Match with a pair of cute kicks like the model above and a tan or pastel colored blouse like the one below.

You can also do this with a nude or colored shoe.  Light pink or peach would look stunning with this skirt as well.

Still tryin to stay warm but want to wear white?  Even though some areas of the nation are warming up, some of us arestill  seeing snowy days!  Here's a cute way to enjoy the spring ready to brave the cold frontier.

Don't be afraid to match different shades of cream or textures to create a smooth and mixed look.

Or go completely spring with this sheer blouse and accordion flowing skirt.  You can also match this with another style stiletto shoe!

And, finally if you want to go corporate-business rock a full white suit!  Got to love the ruffle detail and matching pearls.

Throw on some shades and you're in business...

What's your favorite look?

Winter Silvers

I have been extremely busy with life and the holidays.  We just did a beautiful wedding on New Years Day, celebrated our 9 Year Anniversary, and we are enjoying the rest of our vacation from work.

Today I was able to slip in a few pics in the midst of everything going on!  And by the way...Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!  To you and your family!

Silvers, blacks, greys, and a soft cream rabbit hair scarf.  It was freezing in ATL today!

The silvers remind me of a Winter Wonderland.  And the top is actually a dress I turned into a top with a tweed skirt and a leathery (pleather) belt- which blends perfectly with my leather Aigner Boots.  I also wore this with my Burberry purse.  Warm, cozy and cute look.

Betsey Johnson at NYFW Spring 2014

I had to laugh when I saw Betsey Johnson's Spring 2014 Line.  I looovvveeed it!  And here are a few of my picks!  It was really fun (as always), very pink and she exhausted two of my fave cuts- the A line and the Pencil skirt, which I love because they fit me perfectly every time!

The Boldness, The Pink Hair, Mixed with the Modest, the Simple.

Gotta LUV it!
Oh, and...don't forget the silver/blue lipstick.  Can't go home without it!  Right?!  Lol

Some of this was clearly inspired by a Vintage 1950s look- classic meets roaring art!

The Gypsy Skirt & Bohemian Look

Fall is coming up and cool weather will be upon us sooner than later!  Many times I am asked how to wear skirts when its warm outside.  One great addition to your wardrobe is the Gypsy Skirt, which can also be worn in layers with tights and boots underneath.

A flashback to Alexis Mabel’s NYFW 2012 Line reveals the warmth and beauty of a Gypsy Skirt:

Gypsy Skirts are A Line skirts with layered hems, much of the focus veers towards one’s hips when wearing this type of skirt:

How to Rock It!

Pull the whole look together like this:

What makes this model’s look?  The head wrap, the bangles, the smoky eyes, layered necklaces, colorful florals and a mixture of fun patterns.  This is called a Bohemian or Boho Look!
Imagine wearing this model’s look with a gypsy skirt!  Now you have a head turning ensemble everywhere you go…And a fun youthful feel.

But you could also simplify the look with a plain black tshirt, so you don’t overdo it.

Okay, one more just for fun:

Add some Bohemian Accessories too:

If you are a Pear Shape, be careful wearing skirts that are too tight around the hips!

The Pleated Skirt

The pleated skirt speaks delicacy and femininity.
Source

For a Romantic look, a long, flowing pleated skirt (knee length or ankle length) with soft, gentle heels are key!  The soft shade, rose, yellow and sage green hues are gorgeous yet delicate.

Tadashi Shoji's redition of the pleated skirt is very bohemian and ethnic, graceful and sheer bliss.

The Tube Skirt

The Tube Skirt is a classic skirt that has been around for years and years!  They provide a very classy look for all you fashionistas.  And, they can be worn in different styles based on the type and weight of material used to make them...

Here are a few from Spring 2013 Designer Lines...

Cesar Galindo's structured, evening wear look:

Dolce & Gabbana softens it up with a more relaxed linen/cotton material:

Notice how the look becomes even more gentle and free flowing with a silky, very light weight material:

And Prada urbanizes the Tube Skirt with a heavy weight red leather material:

These are just a few ways a Tube Skirt can be worn- notice the diversity of all these styles!  There is no limit to the different looks you can create in your own personal wardrobe when wearing tube skirts.

Body Type: Tube Skirts look great on hourglass and banana shaped women.

Have a wonderful day lovelies :-)

Kenyan Glam: Today's Look

Today’s Look! Inspired and Received from Kenya, Africa. I loved wearing this look with my hot pink stilettos. They added instant glam to this tribal-like outfit.  This was so much fun!

The Pencil Skirt

I absolutely love the Pencil Skirt.  Here are a few in different colors and styles from Oscar de la Renta's Spring 2013 Line.

You can either dress up the pencil skirt or dress it down.  You can wear a jean pencil skirt with a t-shirt and heels.  You can wear it with a dressy blouse and classic heels, for a romantic look or you can wear it with a collared shirt and conservative heels, for a more corporate-business look.

No matter what, wearing a pencil skirt will create a classiness that exudes timelessness.

Accessorize it with matching jewelry and a cute purse and you're good to go!
